Testing high-quality stretch films? Use a Film Performance Tester from ESTL to create realistic testing conditions!
The stretch film market is a rapidly evolving - highly competitive - market. To remain at the forefront of this industry, the ability to develop products that meet specific customer requirements at a competitive price is paramount. The key to this is providing the right balance between cost and performance. ESTL's Film Performance Tester are designed to help you in this difficult balancing act. Our machines are used by major industry players to ensure quality requirements are met or to develop the stretch film of tomorrow.
The FPT-evo is an evolution of the successful FPT-750. The FPT-evo combines the measurement capabilities of the FPT-750 with improved efficiency and ergonomics. This results in the most versatile and reliable stretch film test bench on the market.
The FPT-evo is equipped with additional sensors to capture every angle of stretch film quality control and development.
Examples of these additional sensors are :
The FPT-evo comes as a "full option" system - unlike the FPT-750. This approach is called "ready for the future." In fact, we believe that all those extra sensors are necessary to develop the film of tomorrow. In addition, the frame of the machine allows for future needs.
Contact us for more information! The FPT-evo shares its DNA with the FPT-750. It has the same reliable driveline as the FPT-750. It features the same relevant industrial tests. It is perfectly possible to use a FPT-750 and FPT-evo side by side. This is due to the common software architecture and the high compatibility of spare parts.
The FPT-evo simply takes the capabilities of the FPT-750 to the next step. The following successful concepts have been reused on the FPT-evo :
The Vision+ system is a highly advanced vision system that actively detects the following defects:
The powerful software tracks the dimensions, position and patterns in which defects occur. The vision+ system is ideally suited for developing environmentally friendly films with PCR. Monitoring the gels helps answer the questions below, among others:
Having trouble testing ultra-thin film? The FPT-evo makes the operator's life much easier. Activate the easy-threading feature: the FPT-evo detects that the operator is pulling on the film and lends a hand by slowly rotating the motors. The unique algorithm stops this movement as soon as the operator stops pulling on the film. Safe speed monitoring ensures operator safety at all times. This new feature significantly reduces the risk of tearing the film during the feeding process. In addition, it reduces operator effort and thus increases operational efficiency.
Servo technology was applied to the FPT-750. Many customers liked that they could simulate the varying speeds as on real winders. Or the fact that the perforation speed could be set. The servo technology² goes one step further by increasing the maximum speed of the machine. The FPT-evo driveline can reach line speeds of 8m/s or 1570ft/min.
The FPT-evo has a fully automatic 'cross stiffness' test. This allows the operator to measure the stress - strain curve of the film in the transverse direction while the film is held in a given stretch condition in the machine direction. This bi-axial test is of interest to investigate the "fissibility" of film in the stretched condition.
Whether you are developing tomorrow's hand film or a blown film, you have come to the right place. The FPT-evo comes with various sensors that accurately capture all possible parameters of your film.
The FPT-evo is only available as a "full option" machine. This is to ensure that you are ready for the future!
The FPT-evo comes standard with the following additional sensors:
The new "multi-core clamp unit²" offers improved efficiency. The top and bottom clamps move at the push of a button. This allows automatic switching between different film heights and different core diameters (2 inches and 3 inches). In addition, it ensures that the film always runs in the center of the machine.
The FPT-evo is fully compatible with our web-based quality management system ESTELLE. Quickly determine whether a product is within specification? Create an overview of measurement data over a longer period of time? Quickly compare results? It can all be done within seconds on any device with a web browser.
The FPT-evo and ESTELLE system have full connectivity with different brands of extrusion lines.
The FPT-evo has improved ergonomics compared to the FPT-750. This thanks to:
Unwinding -, recovery -, peel off - and stretching force are measured as a function of front stretch.
The pre-stretch is increased to breaking point in predefined steps.
The test speed is constant and can be programmed between 0 and 8000 mm/s.
A certain number of metres are brought to a predetermined pre-stretch. All this happens at a constant speed.
The forces in each section are tracked. Thus, statistical values can be kept of the following parameters: unwind -, reset -, peel off - and stretch force. Meanwhile, unwind noise, roll length, errors, etc. are also recorded.
The speed of this test is adjustable between 0 and 8000 mm/s.
During this test, the machine uses a speed profile similar to the speed profile of a winder. Rotational speeds up to 80 rpm can be simulated.
The response delay of the winder can also be set.
During the "wrapper consistency test," a certain number of meters are pre-stretched to a predetermined pre-stretch.
The film is brought to this stretch at varying speeds. This speed profile corresponds to the speed profile on a stretch wrapper.
The reaction time of the stretch wrapper as well as the response delay can be set. This allows life-like situations to be simulated.
The stretch film is pre-stretched and brought to a certain tension. Next, the foil is clamped by a canvas. Finally, the foil is perforated by a probe.
It comes standard with three different probes: puncture, dart and tear resistance.
The pre-stretch -, tension - and perforation speed can be programmed.
The software calculates the maximum force, travel of the probe (from first contact to break) and energy absorption.
The stretch film is pre-stretched and brought to a certain tension. Then the film line is stopped.
The change of forces in each segment is logged as a function of time.
The stretch film is wrapped around an ellipse in a controlled manner. The stretch and tension at which this occurs are adjustable.
A powered contract roller pushes away the air trapped between the layers of film. Then one layer of film is pulled away relative to the underlying layer.
The software calculates the maximum and median value of the force.
The film is stretched to the desired level of pre-stretch and second stretch. A small cut is made in the film. After this initial cut, additional forces are applied to the film until it fails.
The more force the film can withstand, the better the propagation properties.
This is a special 'ultimate' test for hand wrapping film or 'core brake' film. It mimics the behavior of these applications.
The film is stretched by reducing the unwinding speed of the core.
A sheet is pushed into a stretched piece of foil to check the carrying capacity of the foil.
The test is similar to the 'astm pull plate' test.
During this test, the film is placed in a specific condition of pre-stretch and tension. The line is stopped while the film remains under proper conditions (under tension). The operator can now attach the lower and upper clamp to the film. Once finished, a vertical movement is applied to the film. In this way, the vertical tensile curve is measured.
This test allows one to monitor the behavior of the film after stretching.
The pre-stretch remains constant while the winding tension is increased little by little until the film tears. Thus, the stiffness of two types of film can be compared.
